Dear BeWelcome members,

one week ago a very fruitful General Assembly of BeVolunteer (the legal non-profit organisation supporting BeWelcome) ended. Many issues were discussed and consensuses reached, and, as every year, the new Board of Directors was elected.
We want to take this opportunity to introduce ourselves and to talk shortly about the ideas that each of us have for the coming year.

Chairman – Florian (Kiwiflave)

Florian graduated in Management and currently works as journalist and copywriter. Originally from Germany, he spent the last two years in Barcelona and is just about to move to the UK. Having promoted hospitality exchange organisations for many years, he strongly believes in the success of BeWelcome. Despite his busy schedule, Florian will do his best to focus on internal and external communication, representation and cooperation with other organisations.

Treasurer – Gilbert (jilrev)

Gilbert is French and lives in Brittany. He has true passion for democratic hospitality exchange and open source freeware. He will use the years of experience in volunteering for Servas to promote BeWelcome and ensure smooth running of our accounting.

Ombudsman – jeanyves (jeanyves)

JeanYves is a husband and a father of three children. He is graduated in electricity and automation and is specialist in database design. He is also one of the founders of BeWelcome and has been a member of BoDs from the very beginning. His major task this year will be to keep BeVolunteer transparent and further the goal of diversity within the organization.

Communications Coordinator and Secretary – Maria (demorganna)

Maria is Polish and she has just graduated in French and International Relations. Her true passion lies with communication and online marketing. She believes that BeWelcome can greatly profit from improved communication between the community and the volunteers, between the volunteers, and with the outside world. Let’s spread the word!

Vice Chairman – Thomas (tgoorden)

Thomas is a theatre and film director from Belgium. It is his second term in BoD. The coming year he plans to use his amazing organizational skills to transform BeVolunteer and BeWelcome. Although there are many interesting challenges that our organization has to face in 2009, it is the simplification process and the financial strategy that interest him the most.

Before we go any further, we would like to thank Frank, Claudia and Pierre-Charles who worked very hard as BoD members in previous years and showed great commitment to our community.
