Forum Moderator Application

1. Methods for Applying

  • You can find details of how the Mod Team works at http://www.bewelcome.org/wiki/moderation_team If you are interested in joining the team, you can approach the team contact (or any other member of the team). Details of the team members can be found at http://www.bewelcome.org/wiki/Who_does_what
  • No particular technical skills are needed and opinionated people are welcomed because the team needs a range of different perspectives to inform their decisions. The team works in a structured way within a set of guidelines and new members are supported and mentored by existing team members.

2. Requirements

  • Number of posts : Minimum number of posts around 100 - Part of them has to be about the BW project.
  • Time of membership : Already member of BW for at least 3 months
  • Languages: Enough English to take part to the discussion in the team.
  • Banned members: Only members that have not been officially warned/banned for the last 6 months can apply.

3. Selection criteria

These criteria are usually taken into account when evaluating applications. Please keep in mind that those are just guidelines:

  • Member's attitude toward other members
  • Quality and tone of member's posts
  • Received comments
  • Letter of application: Why is the member motivated to apply to the moderator team?
  • In case of a warned/banned member, the severity and the reason of the warn/ban

4. Approval Method

  • Voting by moderation team: a new moderator will be chosen/approved by the consensus of the entire (active) moderating team. Moderators saying "i don't care" or "i have no opinion" should not influence the vote.
  • Profile verified by Safety Team,
  • Selection confirmed by BoD.

5. Integration

  • The new moderator signs a non-disclosure agreement before getting access to the moderation tools.
  • One or more members of the current Moderators Team will help the new moderator getting around and give him/her the information (s)he needs to start the task. They will be a so called 'Mentor' of the newly assigned moderator.
