We call them "authonomical comunities" and there are seventeen of them. Pais Vasco, Cantabria, Asturias, Galicia, Castilla-León, Extremadura, Madrid, Andalucía, Castilla-La Mancha, Aragón, Navarra, La Rioja, Cataluña, Valencian Community, Murcia, Islas Baleares and Islas Canarias. And two "autonomous cities" in the north of Africa: Ceuta and Melilla.

Other Destinations

I always counsel the people who ask me to set a goal when you come to Spain. Ask yourself what you want to do or see, what your interests are. Then find the right places to go.

Getting there

We are in a corner of europe, so just go south east and you will find us! It is the last piece of land before the sea. Portugal is even further.

Getting around

Spain has a good railway net and busses system. Also a good highways net. Hitch hicking is not a good option to move around. It is quite hilly so bicicles are an option only if you are in good physical condition.

What to do

Again, Spain is quite different from one place to another. Find out your interests and make a plan about them.

Also the spanish peoples are different among them. And we speak different languages. Spanish is our common language, but there are other local languages. So be aware that the south is not equal to the north, east to the west...

Eat and Drink

Spain is plenty of restaurants everywhere. If you want to eat normal spanish meals at a reasonable price, choose the "menu". This consists on two meals (to be chosen among a short number of options) plus drink and dessert, all included in the price. You will be eating what spanish people usually eat. Of course, try the wines. We have very good ones. however, beer is not that good.

You will find Spain plenty of hotels at every price, campings, hostels...
