About me

I used to be quite an active member on CS (https://www.couchsurfing.org/people/tomasmarc), but I decided to move to BeWelcome for quite a handful of reasons that we all know and loathe. Now, I only keep it for museum and propaganda reasons. (Also when I really need a couch real quick somewhere and I just don't care about normativity anymore)

Once the culture of alienating individuality and totalitarising commonality [a.k.a. easy-minded open-going] inflates BW, as well, once it becomes a Thing (more than itself, more than free places to sleep and well-meaning travelers in the essential sense), we'll have to move somewhere else.

Lately I tend to forget my earlier lives, so let's not engage in this description thing too much. Let's meet and talk about it, if possible and there are no red flags in your profile or request, I'll give you a space to crash for sure.

My interests

Hobbies:

When they need to give me something, people usually present me with books and/or alcohol.

Books:

Yes.

Music:

Punk, ska and other exciting variations. Love a good gig, wouldn't say no to a little mosh [just this time]. Otherwise, don't care much.

Films:

Good.

Travel experiences

Past trips:

Hitch-hiking in most European countries and disputed territories, mostly in the East.

Planned trips:

Belongs to the following groups

Group

Nu I live here.

Accommodation

yes, i can host
Max number of guests:
6
Maximum length of stay:

Keep on asking and see what happens.

I Live With:

Three flatmates and a beautiful social spoiled cat.

Please bring:

If it's winter - something to warm you/us from outside or inside. Otherwise, wha'eva'. Washing dishes, cleaning toilet, taking out the trash, leaving a few euros in a jar for taxes and rent, bringing/buying cheese, coffee, sugar or any other stuff that one cannot find in the bin is nice, but strictly not obligatory. Kinda free-price system.

I can offer my guests:
A guided tour, A dinner.

An enclosed safe surface to sleep on, that's one. A hot shower, that's two. Food and drinks, provided we have any. Company, if we have time, company of our friends, if we don't. If we have time - a walk around Kaunas and a few interesting places to see that one might not see right away. Internet. Anything else? Ask.

I can offer my hosts:

Stories. Perhaps a bottle of this or that if I'm not completely skinned at the moment. Opinionated discussions. Human warmth, helping around the house [unwashed dishes are no revolution], in some cases - a few inconveniences [what would you think was going to happen, accepting total strangers in your place just like that?!]

Other information for guests:

Might be a bit cold in the winter, but we're dealing with that. This place has a wonderful let's-all-drink here kitchen, appreciate it. Friends might pass by, meetings and discussions might happen. You might get to sleep in a little room, or on the floor, or in a very messy room, so rule 1 - no whining about that :) No need for an early request or long letters. All in all, you cool [?], we cool [?], come and stay.

Public transport:

Almost in the centre of the city, right next to the bus and train stations, buses, coaches and trolleybuses just keep on zipping past. One must be talented to miss those [but there are talented people in this world, so don't worry if you're one of them, we ok, you ok].

House Rules:

All fine with smoking, alcohol and them other things [i.e., their lighter variations], when shared in illusion of moderation. No curfew, you might also get a pair of keys if you're lucky, if you do anything inappropriate, saying sorry and repairing damage [if any] leaves you guilt-free [things happen]. Don't feel like you're allowed less than us just because you're traveling past, voice your opinions and demand your autonomy: we're not rich, we know what it's like.

Oh yeah, but not all opinions. We're extremely intolerant towards homophobes, racists, sexists, nationalists/nazis, capitalists, and cops, lately – islamophobes. If you're any of those, piss off.
