The first week of May (02 - 06 May 2009), in south of Tunisia, will happen our first Big Travelers Meeting. Hundred of travelers are expected to join us in the city of Gabes to share fews days with the students of the city.

Many travelers are coming from France, Belgium, Poland, Russia, Egypt, Morocco, Algeria, etc. You also Join us, This is a very good opportunity for you to visit Tunisia and to camp in desert of Sahara with a nice group, in the same time, you will help us to spread the message of Rahhala.

Our goal is:
To organise meetings with universities, television, schools, etc. in aim to motivate young people to the importance of travelling (backpacking) outside the country...

The plan is :

- Saturday 02 May morning, Meeting in GABES on (2 hours from Djerba Airport, average of flight cost from Europe: 150 euro return Ticket).
- Saturday 02 May 2pm-8pm : Conferences with the students of the universites compus (place : engeneer school)
- Saturday 02 May evening: Night in « dar ltaeif » (1000 years old house) with local group music
- Sunday 03 May 09am-12am : Workshops with students (how to prepare a travel, how to prepare a backpack, etc.) (Place : culturel student center)
- Sunday 03 May 1pm-8pm : forum of the travelers : Each traveler will have a table and can use it to show his photos, travels, discuss with student, etc. (Please bring with you all what U can), in the same time : Photos exibition (Ali Barkawi from Jordan)
- Sunday 03 evening : Diner in the sea
- Monday 04 May 10am : Visits of the city (Tomb of Abi Loubaba AL Ansari, Old city, Oasis, etc.)
- Monday 04 May : 2pm Departure to Matmata (Old berbere village in the moutains), trek and night in Matmata
- Tuesday 05 May : 07am Departure to Ksar Guilaine in the Sahara,
- Tuesday 05 May 2pm : WorkShop Equitation and other activities (horse trek, camel trek, squad, trek, …)
- Tuesday 05 May evening : Rahhala night (poesie, local music, theatre, up to your creation)
- Wednesday 05 May : free time

From Wednesday, we will not have any activity in group so you can have all your time to enjoy the desert and Tunisia by your own (and enough time to make new friends and travel with them)

Of course, theses are still very big lines. Your proposals and participation to make our meeting more rich are welcome. Our aim is to spend nice days together and to spread a message of how important are travels.

Some additional informations :

Transport from Gabes to Matmata, to Ksar Guilaine : Free : We have promise to have buses of the engeneer school of Gabes for free during our meeting

Accommodation in Gabes:We can help you to find accomodation in our friends houses, if you prefer hotel, we have also negocited for you

* Furnished apartment (3-4 persons): 20 DT per night (10-12 Euro) therefore, 3 or 4 Euro per person per night
* Hostel : 40DT per night for room with 2 beds, therefore, 10 Euro per person per night

Accommodation in matmata : Hôtel Diar Al barbar (50 DT / night double room), therefore, 12 Euro per person

Accommodation in Ksar Guilaine : Camping 40DT per night therefore, 10 Euro per person per night


The details of the conferences, exibitions and the big travelers who will join us will be online soon (We’ve been very busy with logistic and the new version of rahhala.net so now we can contact them to confirm everything…)

Please notice that free transport, accomodation or any help we will have is reserved for members of rahhala (it takes 5 mn to create a profile in www.rahhala.net )

La première semaine de Mai (02 - 06 Mai 2009), aura lieu la première grande rencontre de voyageurs arabes. Une centaine de voyageurs sont attendus à se joindre à nous pour partager quelques jours avec les étudiants de la ville de Gabes dans le Sud de la Tunisie.

Nombreux voyageurs en provenance de France, Belgique, Pologne, Russie, Égypte, Maroc, Algérie, etc. Vous aussi rejoignez nous, ça sera une belle occasion de rencontrer nos voyageurs rahhala, de visiter le sud tunisien, et en même temps vous nous aiderez à diffuser notre message

Notre objectif est :
Organiser des rencontres avec les étudiants, télévision, journaux, etc. dans un objectif de motiver les jeunes à adopter ce mode voyage en sac à dos

Le programme :


- Samedi 02 Mai matinée : Accueil des voyageurs au centre culturel universitaire
- Samedi 02 Mai après midi : Conférences à l’école des ingénieurs de Gabes
- Samedi 02 Mai soirée : Soirée musicale dans une maison historique
- Dimanche 03 Mai matin : Ateliers avec les étudiants (comment préparer un grand voyage, sac à dos mode d’emploi, etc.
- Dimanche 03 Mai toute la journée : forum/Salon des voyageurs: Chaque voyageur aura une table et peut présenter ses voyages aux étudiants + expo photos
- Dimanche 03 Mai soir : dîner à la plage
-Lundi 04 Mai matin : visites de Gabes
- Lundi 04 Mai début d’après midi : Départ à Matmata et nuit à l’hôtel Diar Al Barbar
- Mardi 05 et Mercredi 06 Mai : Camping à Ksar Guilaine (Sahara), ateliers : équitation, squad, etc.


A partir de mercredi, aucune activité en groupe n’est planifiée donc vous aurez bien tout votre temps pour en profiter de votre voyage

Bien sur, toute proposition est la Bienvenue (expo photo, conférence, autre activité, etc.)

N’hésitez pas à demander si besoin d’infos

Dernier mot pour les tunisiens : Nous venons chez vous et attendons un chaleureux accueil

Quelques informations supplémentaires :

Le transport de Gabes à Matmata et Ksar Guilaine : ça sera offert par l’école d’ingénieur qui mettra à notre disposition un Bus

Hébergement à Gabes:Vous pouvez loger chez nos amis, si vous préférez l’hôtel nous avons déjà négocié un bon tarif pour vous :

Are you serious about all this??

If it isn't too expensive I am considering to come or advertize it a little bit. This really is a nice move of you Maghrebiens! - This way, many people of North Africa would have the possibility to get in touch with an organisation such as Bewelcome. And you are offering us so much... look what they are considering to do! :)

Thanks for your message ! Sure you are more then WELCOME to join us...We are wworking hard to make this Camp very interesting for everybody (guests and students of the city) ..and in same time we will spend a good desert experience..

It's almost sure, but I still waiting for "official" confirmation from the local cultural autorities to have accomodation, transport and some diners for free for all of us...anyway our friends can host Us..

For BeWelcome it is a good opportunity to spread its messages in Tunisia

Now flights to Tunisia are around 160 Euro with Transavia.com (low cost) ,

We have already confirmations from many countries (Iran, Turkey, Jordania, Algeria, Morocco, France, Russa, Germany, Syria, Lybia, and Tunisia of course..)

Sure we will not be hundreds but the group will be a nice group working in good action together :)
