We once set up a wiki page to collect information and advice for specifically for female travellers: 

I'm sure this page could be improved - at least by adding more country by country information. 

Please help!

 

We could also discuss other features that help to ensure the safety of female travellers. Any ideas?

That's a good idea! I don't have any good idea on this, but maybe having the possibility that one or two friends who are in the website have access to our host details in case of emergency? Not sure that's a good idea though...

 It would be good to have a page on this for male travellers too. I had some bad experiences with couchsurfing on this subject...
