BeWelcome News, July 2007

Dear volunteers, members and friends of BeWelcome! Some of you have joined our network only a few days ago, others saw it grow from the very beginning. Especially those first members may take a step back from time to time and realise with excitement how much BeWelcome has changed compared to the first moments of the project's existence.

BeWelcome: more than just free accommodation It was our dream right at the beginning: we wanted to build a network which would make a difference in the lives and attitudes of people. In the last months many of you contributed to discussions and gave valuable feedback to help us clarify our project mission and the objectives, the "how" to make it happen.

Finding our own identity has been an important process and the new BeWelcome logo which will represent our project at real life meetings and online at our website - is the result of many hours of dedicated work, led and finalised by our member Micha.

New Features: look and feel Step by step you will discover changes in your profile and the website as a whole. All of our 14 teams have only one aim: to make BeWelcome an exciting community to join and to work for.

- update your profile now and find a new structure, new features - use the invite a friend feature to tell others about BeWelcome - translate your profile into your own language: simply click on your preferred language on the bottom of the page before editing your profile (read our faq section for further information. By the way, BeWelcome is being translated into over 20 languages right now! - we want to warmly welcome members with disabilities and try to make it as easy as possible for them to use our network: in your profile settings you can chose if your home is suitable for guests with wheelchairs

Outlook: the next months Many of you are already or will soon go on holidays. The BeWelcome volunteers are there to welcome you back - with new features and important steps such as - the project code will be ready to be published under the GPL (GNU General Public Licence) - important software structuring will be finished - new tools will make it easier to work for and with BeWelcome - and much more

Skype meeting, 19th July, 9pm GMT/UTC+2 or CEST (Paris/Berlin time). We want to invite all the volunteers and those who are interested in working for BeWelcome to join this Skype meeting.
