We met at the General Assembly of BeWelcome in 2007 and several times after.
He's very motivated when it comes to volunteer work and the ideas of BeWelcome and hospitality exchange in general. I couldn't say I know him like my brother but I trust Jean-Yves and I'm sure he and his family would offer me all the hospitality I could ever expect from a person.

Vitré, april 2009
I was lucky to meet Jean Yves, his wife and children, parents and sister. I was for two days in their house. It was such a short time, I would had loved to stay for two months! Why are we so engaged with our normal lifes? This is wonderful people and Vitré is a nice city.

Jean-Yves and Cathy and two of their children (the lovely Corentin and Amélie) hosted me during my brief trip in Bretagne
The time at their home was very special to me. First, they are most friendly and lovely people, very open for conversation on all possible topics, and they spent every possible moment during my visit either sharing with me their life, asking about Israel, or sharing the enthusiasm from HC. Jean-Yves gave me a tour with a glimpse of Vitré through his eyes, both in the narrow streets of this impressive medieval town, and in the natural areas that are so close to their house. Their very special ancient house gave me the feeling I am staying at a museum of olden time architecture. I hope we will meet soon again, hopefully in Israel. You and your kids are most welcome.

We talked over the various Hospex management over several years and finally we met at the BW board meeting in May 2007
JY is fully dedicating himself for all of us to manage great encounters through such community. Personally, he has always showed to be understanding and helpful when I needed some support and discussion. I do wish we had more occasion to meet up in reality though, but hope such will come up again at a later time.

Amazing we only met once in Heidelberg!!We met online so many times, working for HC together in the past and now building BeWelcome.
I value Jean-Yves' opinion a lot, since I got to know him as an intelligent, reliable and careful person. He is a man of action as well of thought and it's the mixture of those two aspects I like. Great to work togehter with you, looking forward to more meetings :-)

Good to see that after my last comments we have met several times already! But in July 08 Jean-Yves and his family hosted us in their amazing house for the first time.
It was really more like visiting an old friend, and definitely good to see everything and everybody around this 'old friend' - from house and garden to pets, his parents and hometown, his children and of course his wife, who apparently enjoyed her husband doing some cooking for guests and family. We talked a lot about BeWelcome, but also about many other topics. Thanks for everything, we had a great time and are looking forward to meeting up again soon!

We met at the BW unconference in Antwerp 2007
As one of the database admins Jean-Yves for sure has a lot to say, but what qualifies him more than technical skills is his ability to listen (or read when discussions are virtual). He shows a lot of smiling respect to other people, a quality I really apreciate. And from now on every post or mail from him will sound in his wonderful accent.

After working together through Internet and hearing a lot about Jean-Yves we finally met in Antwerpen during BW un-conference 01.2008
Because of Jean-Yves' role in BW and othe hospex networks I always thought of him as a paternal, authoritative figure so I felt a bit shy the first time I talked with him. And it turned out I couldn't have been farther from the truth. Jean-Yves is a friendly and open guy and it is just easy to have a nice chat with him. I have very good feelings about this person - 100% positive.

Ever since I visited him in Vitré I am looking forward to seeing him again... several times already: in Heidelberg (2006), in Brussels (2007), now at the BW unconference in Antwerp.
Unbelievable that I have not written an comment on Jean-Yves yet. Not only have we visited him and his lovely family in Vitré and were hosted by all of them with chaleur et amitié. We meet again at least once a year for BW workshops, GAs etc... Knowing him as one of the forces that thrive BW is precious!

We met twice at HC volunteers meetings : once in Brussels, a second time in Heidelberg
Without JY there would probably be no BeWelcome and definitely no HC or at least not the HC as we know it. He spends so much time on the website that you can only thank him again and again. He's a warm person, likes good food and good company, and knows a lot of funny stories (just ask him about what happens when two French programmers try to translate the HC website)... A very trustworthy person, and i'm sure we'll work together a lot during the following years.

Update : Jean-Yves was my guest during the 1st BeWelcome (un)Conference. A very respectful and considerate guest, and someone i trust enormously. Thank you for everything you are doing for making Hospitality Exchange more open, and for bringing people together instead of dividing them

In Antwerpen, for 1st Volunteers meeting
Jean-Yves was doing great things in HC, he's doing great things as well in BW and he's at the same time really motivated & motivating for others. As a "frenchy", it was more natural to speak together, and I really appreciate fact that he's someone swimming in web-site code and also being able to take time for talks. At least but not least, he's living in an interesting part of France...

at their place in vitré
Shame on me, I came to Jean-Yves and Cathy’s place with empty hands ! But they welcome me in their big house in Vitré with a warm tea, cookies, smiles and countless interesting stories of their travels and hostings experiences. They’re both very experienced travelers, and they felt like very trustworthy and friendly people, with lively and sunny kids :-) This was my first « goûter » in 2008, very nice indeed :-)

At his home in 2006.
Jean-Yves, Cathy and their children were wonderful hosts to our family of 5! Our children had a great time playing together. Our stay with them was our first experience with this sort of thing and it was such a great experience we are sold on it! We hope that they will soon find themselves at our house in Canada!

I visited him in Vitré to enjoy a really nice lunch with him.
... after lunch we had some more wine and cheese and it was simply delicious. Jean-Yves is simply a great host with a lot enthusiasm and knowledge. The best about it is that you can ask anything without tiering him. A friendly well of information. I really hope we'll meet again soon and make this project run as smoothly as it deserves, and that means perfect.

I meet jeanyves almost every evening in chat to discuss BeWelcome, software and - life!
Jean-Yves is one of the major drives of BeWelcome, and he was one the major drives of another hospitality network, the Hospitality Club. He fascinates me every day, because he's an extremely productive person, but at the same time neglecting most of the orderliness I so much depend on in my work. He's stunning sympathetic in conversation, an unusal thinker. I hope I'll very soon meet him personally!

They were very helpful to us and we enjoyed their company very much. We have stayed in touch since and hope to meet up again some day soon!

I heard a lot about Jean-Yves and finally we met in Brussels during BeVolunteer general assembly
Jean-Yves is a very hard-working, patient (!) and devoted person who has played a very important role in promoting hospitality exchange - and I am happy he is working for BW now - and I can work with him and learn. Besides, he has a very nice family a part of which I was pleased to meet in Brussels as well :)

Paris, February 2007, we met for a coffee and later went for a very nice dinner at a lebanese restaurant in Paris...
Even before i met JeanYves in person i knew him a lot already. As the main Hospitality Club admin and dedicated volunteer his name appeared everywhere and when BeWelcome started as a new project i carefully listened to his opinion. Meeting in real life only underlined my very positive impression of him and i was not surprised to get to know a very enthusiastic, intelligent person and caring father of a family. There is little doubt that there will be many occasion where we may meet and i am looking forward to working together with you, jeanyves, let's live our dreams!
