Things to do after the GA 2009

posted 2009/07/13 19:41    Visibility: World

(I'm taking the topic from Skype into this discussion group)

We need to pick up the following tasks (following Florian's remarks and mine):

  • Formally deciding the structure of the BoD and individual responsibilities.
  • Decide on the strategy (working groups? coordinators?) to merge the BV wiki and to "put to rest" the blog and the forum.
  • Start on some communication tasks, including announcing the new BoD, etc.

The current suggestion for the BoD structure would be:

  • Florian: president
  • Thomas: Vice
  • Maria: Communications officer (which secretly involves the official task of secretary?)
  • Gilbert: Treasurer
  • Jean-Yves: no official function, but our link to the BW history

I talked to all of you about this and believe everyone felt comfortable with this proposal (including Gilbert who might be offline for a while). If you agree formally here, we can get to work! For everyone's information, I will be traveling a bit until the 26th of July. I would love to help with the transition stuff and believe that perhaps the 27th is a good starting date to start merging things. It will give people the time to prepare technically.

Cheers,
Thomas

I agree with what Thomas is suggesting.

Some other suggestions (and tasks) after GA:

1. Push for a more regular newsletter with calls for action (write testimonials, test website, tell us what you want)

2. Better (coordinated) communication between teams - this one is linked with the team structure

3. Improvement of the "welcome" message for new members

4. Activation of local communities (by personal contact)

5. Defining BW by testimonials and 3 or 4 core values

I also talked with Peter and asked him to make sure that every time dev team creates a new tool or improves an old one, they will write a short release (with basic functions and why it is great) so that we can put it in the news or newsletter and advertise it to members.  For the coming newsletter I will write about groups to maybe get members to use this tool more.

When it comes to the meeting 27th is fine with me. I also suggest that we set up a stending meeting twice a month (every second Monday for example).

Maria

Hi there,

Work areas of BoD members: sounds good, if everybody is happy with it.

Is this group connected to a (publicly visible) group blog where we could post news and such? Members could automatically receive new entries via RSS (with the option to opt-out through their profile settings...)
