The Winter Camp is an annual new year's celebration held in a different city each year, which brings together members of several online hospitality networks. The first five events were held in Vilnius in 2004; Riga in 2005; Warsaw in 2006; Istanbul in 2007; and Berlin in 2008. The gathering aims to foster cultural exchange, sharing, and global friendship, through mass inebriation, wild partying, and collective good times.
"It's going to be fatter than pure zsír and hotter than your mama's Paprikás chicken," said one Budapest organizer. "It's going to be unforgettable... at least after you have been reminded the next day of what you did the night before!"
Watch this space for programs, announcements, and early word when registration opens - but most importantly, for the deliciously incriminating photos after!

Hey Adam,
is the camp still on? Where do you register for the camp? Is there a website?

Hi Maria,
The camp is definitely on! The website will go live at http://www.couchsurfingbudapest.com in the very near future. Registration is slated to open on 1 November.
I can officially announce that the new year's party will be held in the medieval citadel on the top of Gellert Hill overlooking the city of Budapest, and there are a vast number of other events on the week-long schedule, so a good time will certainly be had by all
Attendance will be limited to 700 people, so make sure to be quick to register. For early word when registration opens, join the facebook or couchsurfing events/groups. I'll also create a group here for the event.
Hope to see you all there!

Seems like the official registration for Budapest Winter Camp is finally open. You can find it here.
From the message of the organizers: "Places are limited: we will be offering only 340 tickets with accommodation at the campsite, and 350 tickets for those who prefer to stay with friends or in local hostels, or enjoy the hospitality of Budapest's thousands of wonderful and fun-loving CouchSurfing and BeWelcome members."
So hurry up if you want a ticket :)
