You could try finding a place in a squat, have a look at http://hitchwiki.org/en/London#Squatting for some information. There are Praktikal Squatting Evenings to find other squaters on Tuesdays at 56a and LARC(?). It might be hard though if you're not intending to stay longer than 3 weeks.
