Hey everyone,

thanks to one of our system admins, Tobias, and a lot of other highly active members of the developers team, we're proud to show you the newest release of BW Rox, the software that drives BeWelcome. It marks an important step for our efforts of improving the BeWelcome website.

• The forums got better (and finally usable!)
• the new members search is just impressive and
• the mainpage got redesigned.
• A lot more things happened in the background. Bugfixes, modifications, preparations for the next release.

While you may miss certain things like the blogs, trips and wiki - be sure that they will come back. We decided to keep them out of this release, so that we can really make them the killer-tools for our next releases.

We also now about some displaying (and programming) problems with this release but please be patient: We decided to fix them smoothly over the next days and weeks. This is why we also encourage you to write about your experiences with the new website. Whenever you encounter a bug, please, leave a comment here in the forum or drop us a line using the feedback form

Looking great !

 here is the first bug i encountered, using Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; nl; rv:1.8.1.11) Gecko/20071127 Firefox/2.0.0.11

 - I uploaded a new profile picture (size about 220 kb), but when i try to look at it on my account, it fails to upload on my profile page and i get the following error : 

Warning: imagejpeg() [function.imagejpeg]: Unable to open '/home/bwrox/data/images//thumbs/thorgal67_1197039379.square.80x80.jpg' for writing: Permission denied in /home/bwrox/bwrox.production/htdocs/bw/lib/FunctionsTools.php on line 957

there is now very nice tools here :-) I'm not that sad about the -temporal- lost of some of thems (blog, etc...) because now we have theses great tools who are really rock'ing, and the only few bugs founds seems to don't be that deep to fix (only little wrong displays, mainly)

There is a lot of good work behind that, so thanks you very much :-)

Another small bug - as we have a slightly different language line, there is not TR button used by our translators - I guess there is another way to reach the translation workfield, but it would be really great to have that nice button back in order not to confuse translators. Thanks in advance!

I still have some problems with the site.

in Safari it shows:

Wegen eines Skripts auf der Seite „BeWelcome“ (http://www.bewelcome.org/forums/s203-New%20release%20online!!/reply) reagiert Safari nicht mehr. Möchten Sie das Skript weiterhin ausführen oder möchten Sie es stoppen?

in firefox: first it works but then I change sites and it get frozen (says: waiting for www.bewelcome.org)

Mmh, this is a strange behaviour in Safari then. I'm testing the site right now with Safari for Windows but couldn't repeat the described errors yet. I agree that a lot of the pages should load faster though. We have to work on that. A cache system might help with that in the future and we also might reduce image-load-times and such.

However, the reported slow response from the scripts say that the php-code itself has to be improved.

I will try to keep you posted about the our latest improvements.
