BeWelcome USP

posted 2007/11/22 10:52    Visibility: World

Hello members, volunteers, friends!

BeWelcome is a dynamic and creative project - and most of all a diverse one. It's nearly a year since we started and many of you will have made the first experiences using or working with BeWelcome.

That's why we would like to ask YOU, the users and volunteers, what - in your opinion - are the unique selling points of BW i.e. what makes it unique and different to other networks and initiatives?

Your feedback will help us to make the project better, more fun, more services and features, more community feeling, easier participation.

Our dreams are ambitious - together we rock!

    For the BoD (www.bevolunteer.org/wiki/BoD)

I think the USP is that it's not mainly a one-man show.

I don't know if a big part of the BeWelcome members (who are not volunteers or have already made the choice to help in any way) is interested in the management part of the project (I hope they do, but don't know), and by having the possibility to participate in it.

What I'm sure is that our organization, on long term, will be the best and so will provide the best network, in terms of tools of course but more important of an active and creative community spreading cultural exchange.
I also believe that BeWelcome will be much richer than its direct "concurents" in term of diversity and activity.

I would guess that, for now, the "not a one-man show" is in fact the primary argument for many of our members. Or just pure curiosity.

Of course, this might change later..

maybe the nice logo :) or the wonderful orange :)

no, seriously, I think we will soon be able to offer some 'unique selling points' that users will love as much as volunteers. For now it's more about the spirit, the idea and the philosophy.

I think our main selling points right now are our diversity and experience in the online and offline hospitality exchange scene.

Then, the logo, the layout - absolutely great. Other USP's are that we are based on a registered Non-Profit Org. and our open and friendly volunteer work space...

For me, the beauty and the 'selling point' of BeWelcome is its POTENTIAL.   It's not old and set in its ways, it has a fluid and open structure that allows volunteers to have a voice in the direction it takes, and it is drawing people with high creativity and a willingness to work in an egalitarian and democratic way.

That also means that each of US has the potential to help shape this project in unique and exciting ways. We can think out of the box and beyond hospitality, toward  building bridges across the world, activating cultural exchange to a new level of depth and understanding, and partnering with organizations that also want to make a positive difference in the world.

Rarely do we as individuals have the opportunity to create new possibilities of global impact- but the BeWelcome network is an opportunity like that. Just as important, it's a place filled with people of integrity, good intentions, and a drive to to make 'being a global citizen' really mean something.   ~valerii

true Valerii

BW is small...your voice can be reasonably heard.  I love the emphasis on translation into whatever language you feel most comfortable. great to see all of the flags in a row :)

BW has a very warm, welcoming, global feel...not so heavily American. Nice to find a place free from US pop-slang and the party-onward fun fun fun-perpetuation....which I suppose is insanely successful at attracting large crowds...yet sometimes feels forced and desperate.  I really like this non-frantic layout.
