As you know the code is open source. It can not only be downloaded [2] and modified but narnua now made it extremely easy to get a local version of the site running on Windows. It allows get from zero to login in less than 5 minutes without any special skills. Check out her Blogpost on the BeVolunteer Blog [3].
This nice bundle has already been downloaded more than 30 times since it has been made available on sourceforge yesterday [4].
