I hope that will be fixed soon.

I just tried to report the bug here:

http://trac.bevolunteer.org/newticket

but it's forbidden...

Yeah as far as I know only the profile pic is hidden. All gallery uploads are public.

It's not a bug and not a feature. It's a privacy issue. You are absolutly right!

For the beginning I would add a note somewhere on this page:

http://www.bewelcome.org/gallery/upload

Something like: These pictures will be uploaded to our personal public accessible gallery. Please be aware that you currently can't hide these pictures"

Maybe someone have a better wording?

In the long run (needs some dev power) we should have an option public/nonpublic for every pic/gallery/all.

@mahouni20000: Do you need an trac account? We hide the register page because of the spammers..

I add now this issue so that is does not get lost.

A warning that the pictures will be public is probably the best and fastest solution at the moment then.

I think I already had a trac account, long time ago. I just don't find the login information anymore..

As the trac register page is hidden and it's not possible to login with the bewelcome login, I would say that we better report the bugs and other issues here on the Forum.  And maybe remove the link "report a bug" from the bottom of the BW website or add a note on the trac page that bugs should be reported on the forum.

BTW: If BeWelcome is going to switch to another framework: does it actually make sense to keep reporting small bugs and spending time on discussing ambiguous or debatable features?

Might I ask the quesion;- Why all the panic because everyone can see your pictures?

Didn't you put them on here to be seen?

The pictures I don't want people to see are here in my home, or on my computer.

I thought the whole point of being on here was to share!

I think many pictures on the public gallery were put there because BW members thought they are uploading pictures to their own profile.  And so the pictures only would be seen by BeWelcome members who visit their profile. Like the pictures you put on a Couchsurfing profile.

In fact they are all streamed on a public page, accesible for everyone: http://www.bewelcome.org/gallery/images

Of course the pictures on a profile aren't really private too, but still it makes difference! And I think you should be informed and maybe have the possibility to define which group should have access to your data.

Your profile isn't public, this data can be seen by BW members only. If I remember correctly,  this is the default on BW, and you have to change it in your preferences to make it public.

It wouldn't be okay to have a page like http://www.bewelcome.org/showroom/profile_updates , where the profile edits of all BW members are shown to everyone on the net without that the users know that their data is going to be public on that page.

Changed the English version.

See: http://www.bewelcome.org/gallery/upload

Maybe some other wording? If ok I ask translators to translate.

thank you

The picture privacy issue is a problem because I think it has been forgotten when it was programmed.

This is often what has happen in BW when things have been done with external tool. This is not a critic, it is just that it was so easy to produce a visible result that the backcore has been, as usual, underestimated.

So I will not call this a bug (If nobody tries to manage privacy for picture this should not be a surpise that there is privacy problems), this is a missing option (and important)

Anyway, for picture profile, the privacy is managed. If your profile is not public, your profile picture is not visible for not logged in users.

It is good to change the wording, it would be better to provide an option. This should not be difficult.

As long as we don't offer the opportunity to choose if a picture should be public, we really should make the gallery only accessible for BW members only. Please merge that patch to develop.

I am quite sure that many people don't realize that their pictures go public even when their profile is set to visible for members only.

In a next step I even would make the pictures only accessible for profile visitors, and add an option to pass an image to the BW gallery if someone wants to show some nice pictures to the community.
