Getting there
Getting around
If you want to share a ride, try http://www.mitfahrgelegenheit.de or http://www.mitfahrzentrale.de. Hitchiking is quite easy in Germany - http://www.hitchwiki.org helps! Also hitchbase ist worth to look at: http://www.hitchbase.com For train fares and offers, check http://www.bahn.de (Deutsche Bahn) Since January 2013 (liberalization of the coach market) you can travel on an increasing number of routes by bus. Cheap prices are available when booking early! Some examples:
- eurolines.de (Deutsche Touring) - e.g. Mannheim-Stuttgart
- BerlinLinienBus.de - to and from Berlin
- RVD.de - to and from Dresden
- MeinFernbus.de - southern Germany
To find the nearest public transport, you can use the map at http://www.öpnvkarte.de (uses OSM data).
If you want to compare flight fares (worldwide), http://www.skyscanner.net is very helpful.
This afternoon I got a message advertising http://www.verkehrsmittelvergleich.de/, a site with compares all available transport options; carsharing; busses, trains and planes. Not sure if it works 100%...
What to do
There are A LOT of things to do throughout Germany. You probably best check the websites of particular cities or regions you want to visit.
